At Gloucestershire Community Rail Partnership (GCRP) we are excited to announce the launch of our latest leisure map, showcasing the best ways to experience the Cotswolds without relying on a car. This map highlights Moreton-in-Marsh station as a central hub and gateway to the Cotswolds and was developed in collaboration with Great Western Railway (GWR) and Pulhams Coaches.
Championing Sustainable Travel
The map champions car-free travel and emphasises the extensive travel links across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, and further afield providing an attractive alternative for both residents and visitors. This is the 8th trail map in our collection, all dedicated to making travel in the region simpler and more sustainable. With increasing concerns about traffic and carbon emissions impacting the Cotswolds, there's never been a better time to experience the range of public transport options available.
Exploring the Cotswolds, Your Comprehensive Guide
The new user-friendly map offers an overview of the local travel connections, highlighting popular walks, cycling routes, and bus connections, showcasing Moreton-in-Marsh station as a responsible gateway to the Cotswolds. This attractive map is designed to make the connections easy and is available both as a physical map and a downloadable version.
Seamless Connections
Moreton-in-Marsh station is a key access point, with the 801 bus conveniently connecting passengers from the platform to many other popular destinations like Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Cheltenham, eliminating the need for a car.
For those who enjoy exploring on two wheels, the map also features information on bike and e-bike hire, making it easier to venture further and faster through the stunning Cotswold landscapes.
Partnerships for a Greener Future
Hannah McDonnell, Executive Director of the Gloucestershire Community Rail Partnership, highlighted the project's inspiration stemming from the fantastic connections to the North Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, and beyond. She commented, "We're delighted to launch this initiative, which reflects our dedication to both responsible tourism as well as sustainable and accessible travel. The Cotswolds has so much to offer, and we want people to be able to experience it in an environmentally responsible way."
Industry Support
The project was made possible through the generous support and funding from Great Western Railway and Pulhams Coaches. Representatives from both companies expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative and its alignment with their own goals for sustainable and accessible travel.
